every project is born from an idea.
studiotrope is the tool which gives
life and significance to that idea.
studiotrope Design Collective has been a member of the Five Points community since its inception 13 years ago. As a professional Architecture, Interior and Graphic Design firm, studiotrope set up shop in the back of a storefront at 2700 Arapahoe Street on October 3rd, 2003.

The brainchild of Graphic Designer Deva Montalbano and Architect Joseph Montalbano, studiotrope was fathomed out of a desire to always work from a place of deep collaboration [studio] to manifest each project out of its "voice" [trope].
In 2006, studiotrope was part of a consortium that purchased 2942 Welton Street and converted it from a pottery studio into innovative office space.

As one of the 2015 Welton Challenge winners, studiotrope's vision for the property, nuROOT, was rooted in the history of Five Points and the desire to celebrate our diversity and embrace the neighborhood with open landscapes, pedestrian scale and thoughtful materials.

The past few years have been an amazing opportunity for studiotrope to align its ideals with those of their clients. In 2015 they helped usher in the Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales Branch Library. This project showcased their studio's architecture, interior and graphic design talents in a community library that truly embraces its passion for inclusiveness in one of Denver's most diverse neighborhoods.

This summer studiotrope was also honored to be the graphic and interior designer for the groundbreaking Women of Abstract Expressionism Show at The Denver Art Museum.

Currently studiotrope is working with Re:Vision on The Westwood Food Hub and Cooperative, which will source food and value-added products from over 40 local and regional family farms and food-related small businesses, as well as from 400 low income urban farmers, creating a reliable market for local food producers to sell their goods in Denver's largest food desert.

studiotrope is also proud to be the architect for the state-of-the-art Levitt Pavilion amphitheater, which will host 50 free concerts per year in Ruby Hill Park in southwest Denver.

Ultimately though, being a part of Five Points for the past 13 years has been an incredible point of pride for them. And as such, they have been honored to be a part of its revitalization. Whether volunteering as a member of the Design Review Committee for the Marketing and Branding Project for the Welton Street Corridor, or working on development projects like nuROOT and others along the corridor, they are striving to do their part in revealing Welton's rich patina and showcase it with thriving businesses that love and respect its rich history and diversity.

Senator Bennet's Small Business Corner
We are proud of Colorado's status as a good place to start and grow a small business, but we have also heard about the challenges entrepreneurs face. While they are working to create jobs and build our innovation economy, it's Congress's job to make sure that both owners and their employees have access to the resources they need to succeed.
That's why we introduced the Small Business Employee Retirement Savings Act with Republican Senator Richard Burr from North Carolina to make it easier for small businesses to set up retirement programs for employees. Our bill would increase the tax credit that businesses currently receive, from $500 to $5,000, to offset the cost of starting up new retirement plans. Our measure would also incent automatic enrollment programs by creating a new $500 credit for small businesses with plans offering that option. One of the greatest strengths of Colorado's economy is the pioneering spirit of our expansive and diverse small business community, and we need to keep it that way by ensuring our policies support our entrepreneurs.
